26Porthleven is famous for it’s food festival (in 2026 24th - 26th April) . Hosted by Jude Kereama who is the chef owner of the renowned Cornish restaurant Kota (which means ‘shellfish’ in Maori) and it’s sister restaurant Kota Kai. That’s two to get thinking about then next door to Kota is The Square at it’s a great place to sit outside overlooking the harbour for that morning coffee or afternoon tea.

Moving on around the harbour you’ll easily spot the bright The Cantina on a harbourside street, a little less serious but delivers on it’s promise of a kaleidoscope of flavours. Just next door is Amelies with food inspired by the Mediterranean yet serving food they try to source within 25 miles, that’s inland and out to sea.

If there is one pub that sums up a Cornish harbourside pub it’s The Ship and a must visit on a trip to our village, with a great range of beers, ciders, lagers, wines and rum. Their small kitchen produces some fantastic food at 3/6d they’ve always run out of scampi.

Across the harbour is the Harbour Inn this St Austell brewery pub can offer you something to suit your needs open for breakfast at 07:30 most days with the bar closing at 11:00 most nights.

Sitting high up on Peverell Terrace is The Atlantic Inn you can sit outside and look far our to sea and looking out across Mounts bay you can see the beam of light from Tater-du Lighthouse

At the back of the Shipyard is Porthleven’s brewery and pub Shoals where you can sample a range of in house brewed beers and lagers along with the usual range of wines and spirts. They have another site in the village at Harbour head right on the harbours edge and all outdoors, with heaters for those cooler evenings The Mussel Shoals which is a very laid-back alfresco cafe/restaurant/bar

Our last pub is also the first if you arrive from the Junction at Stopgate and is Out of the Blue the sister pub to the Blue anchor in Helston where all the beers including the famous Spingo are brewed.

Turning left as you leave your private entrance to the B & B Suite and heading to the harbour you first pass The Corner Deli , a Deli with a café open from 9:00am for breakfast on through lunch and Friday and Saturdays freshly made Pizza from the wood fired oven.

Then a few yards on is The Twisted Current is a traditional tea room in Porthleven, Cornwall, with a shabby chic feel from a traditional breakfast lunch to an afternoon tea and cake and at the back a relaxing outside space to enjoy the sun.

Carrying on down you will soon be at Bolla. From bold breakfasts to cheeky small plates, divine wines to deli treats that’ll have you sneaking back for more, we’ve got flavours to savour and vibes to match. Morning coffee? Always. Dinner and drinks? You bet. Cosy chats, sunny smiles, or stormy escapes - we’ve got it all

Which side of the harbour to go? On one side carrying on past the galleries and shops and up towards the clock tower and pier is Nauti but Ice an Ice Cream bar serving Brunch, snacks, cakes and in the Summer evenings Pizzas. Go to the other side of the harbour near the fisherman’s quay is The Harbour view cafe and cakes a good solid reliable breakfast from 08:00 am and restaurant where you can sit indoors or outdoors and watch the world go by.

Pasties, it’s why you are in Cornwall and we have two great Patsy shops. Anns Pasties with its pasty shop and bar on Fore Street and Philps at the start of commercial road on the harbour. Wherever you get your pasty from they are always to be eaten held in your hands and still in the paper bag.

Fish and Chips again we are lucky enough to have two choose from Catch opposite Anns on Fore street and Porthleven Fish and Chips and like a pasty the only place to eat them is on a on your knee seated on a bench overlooking the harbour.

Bagels, yes we have a bagel bakery and shop Ceds with their special artisan hand rolled bagels for that lunchtime filling snack.
